Use application families only as a starting point
PP is commonly considered for carton closure and lighter bundling; PET is commonly considered for more demanding pallet or industrial applications. There is overlap, and both are supplied in different dimensions and constructions. Treat these families as a shortlist, not a safety rating. Ask for the proposed strap specification and compatible joining method before substituting one material for another.
Write the load and route brief
Describe the package dimensions, mass, rigidity, edges and any settling after packing. Include how the goods are handled and whether exposure outdoors or unusual temperatures is expected. Add a photograph of the existing strap route and edge protection. A buyer should identify who is responsible for the securement design and any applicable transport requirements; this guide does not provide a certified design.
Separate breaking force from load weight
A strap's breaking force and a pallet's mass are different quantities. Record the supplier's force unit, such as N or kN, and the relevant test method. Ask how joint performance and retained tension are assessed for the proposed arrangement. Do not multiply a catalogue strap value by the number of bands and call the result an allowable pallet weight. Edges, joints and handling are part of the system.
Check the equipment before ordering a sample
List the tensioner, sealer, battery tool or automatic machine by make and model. Confirm permitted material, width, thickness, surface and coil dimensions against the equipment documentation. Identify the buckle, seal or welding method. A strap that appears to fit the feed path may still need different approved settings. Sample checks should use the actual equipment and appropriate trained personnel.
Compare the same purchasing unit
Build a comparison with width, thickness, usable coil length, coil mass, core dimensions, joint accessories and price basis. Record strap used, joint results and rework in a controlled application trial. Avoid comparing a price per coil without checking the length and specification inside that coil. Any savings calculation should retain the accessories and adjustments needed to achieve the agreed result.
Choose your enquiry route
If you already use PP, begin with the PP quote and explain why a change is being considered. For an existing PET system, send the PET label and tool reference. If the material is undecided, send the load brief and request separate alternatives rather than declaring a required strength you have not established. Both category and quotation routes are available below; final selection requires the application review.

Manufacturer references explain the selection principles discussed here. SAFLO quotations and approved samples define the product supplied for your order.
